When we founded Divchata in 2019, we weren’t exactly sure what it was going to be. We knew we wanted to start something that connected and empowered Ukrainian women, but that’s about it. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined the community that exists today!
Born in the U.S., Christina and Uliana grew up together going to Plast (Ukrainian Scouts) as well as Ukrainian School. They both moved to NYC after college and reconnected. Uliana was involved with Razom for Ukraine and had met Maryna through her work there. At some point in 2019, Christina came to Uliana with an idea for a project focused specifically on Ukrainian women. Uliana then connected Christina with Maryna and the rest is history!
What started as an initiative dedicated to providing information for inspiration has grown into that and so much more. Today, at Divchata we connect Ukrainian women and girls globally via a digital platform and brand that were created with the sole purpose of facilitating the forging of powerful relationships. Using this foundation, we are building a diverse community rooted in a shared Ukrainian heritage – to spark conversations that span geographies and catalyze unique and meaningful exchanges of ideas.
We’re so excited to launch this website, to better connect with our community!
